The weekly email and the dashboard widget

Updated October 31, 2026 · 2 min read

Two short summaries reach you without opening the reports: a widget on the WordPress dashboard and an optional weekly email. Both use the same rules as the reports and never show demo data. Like the reports, they need a license that includes EcomDrama Analytics (see Getting started with EcomDrama Analytics): without one, the widget shows how to get one, and no email is sent — test emails included.

The dashboard widget

Shown to users who can view WooCommerce reports. It compares the last 7 days with the 7 before: net sales, orders, average order value and influenced revenue (or items per order when no EcomDrama plugin is installed), a small chart of daily net sales, and the newest recommendation. Below 20 orders it shows your progress toward the reports instead.

Turning on the weekly email

In Settings → Weekly email:

  1. Switch on Send a weekly email.
  2. Add up to five recipients. With none, it goes to the site’s admin email.
  3. Choose the day and hour — Monday at 08:00 unless you change it. Times follow your site’s timezone.
  4. Press Save changes.

Send test email sends this week’s email right away to the addresses on screen, even while the weekly email is off.

What it contains

The email covers the last full week — yesterday and the six days before — against the week before:

  • net sales, orders, average order value and influenced revenue;
  • the three best-selling products;
  • revenue influenced by each EcomDrama plugin;
  • up to two recommendations from Opportunities;
  • alerts, only when something needs a look: average order value down more than 15%, orders down more than 30%, a refund rate well above its 8-week average, or order attribution covering under 70% of orders.

A week without orders gets a short note instead of a page of zeros. The email uses your store’s WooCommerce email colours, header and footer, and includes a plain-text version.

Unsubscribing

Every recipient gets their own unsubscribe link at the bottom of the email. It asks for one confirmation, then removes only that address. When the last recipient unsubscribes, the weekly email switches off.

Not arriving?

The email is sent through WordPress like your order emails. If those arrive but this one doesn’t, check the spam folder first; if neither arrives, set up an SMTP plugin for reliable delivery.
