When bundles don’t show on the product page

Updated October 29, 2026 · 3 min read

You made a bundle, it’s active, but the product page shows nothing. This page goes through why that happens and how to place the bundle when your theme builds the product page in its own way.

First, the quick checks

  • Smart Cross Sell is switched on — the switch at the top of Smart Cross Sell.
  • The bundle is Active and shows on this product (Bundles → “Test a product” tells you which bundle a product gets).
  • Everything can be ordered. The product itself must be in stock (or on backorder), priced and published. A bundle with a product that can’t be ordered is hidden by default — see Global Settings → Products that can’t be ordered.
  • Your page cache is cleared if you use a caching plugin or a host cache.

How the bundle gets onto the page

With Global Settings → Placement set to before the tabs, after the tabs or after related products, Smart Cross Sell adds the bundle through the hooks WooCommerce’s product page provides. Most themes use them, and block themes like Twenty Twenty-Five get it placed around their Product Details (tabs) block.

Some themes build the product page themselves, without those hooks. Then there is no place for the bundle and it doesn’t show — whatever the Placement setting says.

The notice in Smart Cross Sell

When a product page had a bundle to show but didn’t show it, a notice appears at the top of Smart Cross Sell: “Bundles aren’t showing on your product pages”, with your theme’s name and an example product. It goes away by itself once a product page shows a bundle again.

With Placement set to Manual, the notice reads “Bundles aren’t placed on your product pages” and appears only when no product page has shown a bundle for a week — placing bundles on some products only is fine.

Place the bundle yourself

The bundle can be printed anywhere on the product page with the [smart_cross_sell_bundle] shortcode or, in PHP, echo do_shortcode( '[smart_cross_sell_bundle]' );. It shows the bundle of the product being viewed. Pick the way that fits your theme:

  1. Your theme’s own hook. Many themes offer hooks of their own on the product page; their documentation lists them. Add this to your child theme’s functions.php or with a plugin such as Code Snippets, with the theme’s hook name: add_action( 'your_theme_hook', function () { echo do_shortcode( '[smart_cross_sell_bundle]' ); } ); For example, the ShopBar theme has shopbar_product_tabs, below the product details in the right column.
  2. A child theme copy of the product template. If your theme overrides woocommerce/single-product.php, copy that file to your child theme and add <?php echo do_shortcode( '[smart_cross_sell_bundle]' ); ?> where the bundle should appear. Don’t add do_action( 'woocommerce_after_single_product_summary' ) instead: WooCommerce prints its own tabs and related products on that hook too, so they would show twice next to your theme’s.
  3. A page builder (Elementor and others): add a Shortcode widget with [smart_cross_sell_bundle] to your single product template.
  4. A block theme: in Appearance → Editor → Templates → Single Product, add the “Smart Cross Sell — Bundle” block.

If you place the bundle yourself everywhere, set Placement to Manual so it isn’t also added automatically. Either way it never shows twice on a page.

Still not showing?
